Pipeline Operations Supervisor  - Remote / Homeworker

 

About the role

Provide leadership and oversight of Pipeline Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to ensure safe, efficient system performance in line with company standards. Act as deputy for the Pipeline Manager, manage Control Centre operations and Pipeline Specialists, and serve as a key stakeholder for projects including SCADA, integrity, and diversions. Oversee budgets, safe systems of work, and permit approvals; support improvement initiatives and on-call duty management. Ensure right-of-way maintenance, defect resolution, and compliance with industry standards. Maintain up-to-date O&M procedures, monitor competency and training, and deliver accurate monthly reporting.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide support and serve as a key contributor for Competent Authority (CA) interventions.
  • Ensure all activities are completed in full compliance with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements, with a strong focus on safety and maintaining safe systems of work.
  • Capture and record accurate information necessary for producing monthly performance reports and other management documentation.
  • Provide data and insights required to report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the pipeline team.
  • Maintain the highest standards of probity and confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Identify and report system faults, undertake effective problem-solving, and implement safe and efficient technical or operational workarounds.
  • Participate in the Management of Change processes within the Pipeline Control Centre setting and across the pipeline network.
  • Report system defects and incidents promptly, ensuring all details are accurately input into company software systems.
  • Contribute to and participate in improvement projects related to pipeline operations and associated processes.
  • Take ownership of incident investigations and problem-solving to address issues affecting the safe and effective operation of the network.
  • Utilise Exolum's financial software system to raise purchase requests, approve purchase orders, and process invoices within assigned financial limits.
  • Manage the O&M contract within approved budgets, ensuring proper cost control at all stages.
  • Assist in producing medium- and long-term expenditure plans to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Contribute to the preparation of budgets and manage pipeline operations within budget targets, both within the area of responsibility and in areas impacting other parts of the business.
  • Ensure full compliance with company rules and policies related to procurement.
  • Oversee the submission, review, and approval of all timesheets and expense claims to ensure accuracy and adherence to company standards.

 

About You

 

The successful candidate will have a valid driving licence, strong math and English skills, and a NEBOSH or equivalent safety qualification. They should bring extensive experience in high-hazard environments, pipeline and bulk fuel terminal operations, and knowledge of COMAH and PSR regulations. Proficiency in SCADA/DCS systems, risk assessment, and MS Office is essential, along with strong problem-solving, supervisory, training delivery, and budget management skills. The role requires flexibility for occasional travel and night/weekend work.
