Operations Supervisor- Eastham- Permanent
About the role
As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient management of terminal operations, ensuring daily activities are carried out effectively while maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance. You will lead and develop a team of operational staff, supporting the delivery of business objectives and deputising for the Terminal Operations Manager when required.
Key Responsibilities
- To organise, optimise and co-ordinate the day to day operational activities carried out at the Terminal and to ensure that any risks identified in such activities are adequately controlled so far as is reasonably practicable
- To deputise for the Operations Manager as required.
- To liaise with the Maintenance, Stocks, Engineering , Safety and Commercial Departments to ensure the efficient and effective co-ordination of Terminal activities.
- To communicate directly with clients & customers to ensure that operational requirements are effectively/efficiently met.
- To ensure the effective documentation of all operational activities and the maintenance of appropriate records.
- To liaise with outside agencies, i.e. shipping agents, cargo surveyors, and HMRC officials, on all matters pertaining to product storage and handling.
- To ensure that HMRC operational requirements, for products stored in the approved warehouses, are effectively met.
- To establish and maintain critical minimum levels of spares for operational activities.
- To ensure that work carried out by the Operations Department meets the standards of workmanship required by the company’s site specific procedures.
- To manage and ensure the operations staff work within manning guidelines and overtime policies and that suitable competent personnel are assigned to operational activities.
- To respond outside normal working hours to significant operational problems and attend if necessary.
- To assist with the development, implementation and subsequent review and evaluation of all operating procedures.
- To ensure that the principles of the site’s safety rules, MAPP, and regulations are effectively implemented and maintained.
- To ensure the effectiveness of the QA System and its related procedures and systems of work.
- To undetake the role of Site Incident Controller in the event of an incident with major accident potential.
- To be familiar with the ‘Site Emergency Plan’ and how it may be activated.
- To manage equipment handovers and calibration and the maintenance of appropriate records.
About You
You will have experience within bulk liquid storage, fuel distribution, logistics, process operations or a similar high-hazard industrial environment. You will be a confident leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills, capable of motivating teams and maintaining safe and efficient operations. Experience working on a COMAH site and a NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous.

About the Benefits
