About the role

As a Mechanical Craftsperson you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled mechanically-oriented maintenance tasks in accordance with the Asset Maintenance Management System (Maximo); Liaise with the relevant technical and local managerial staff e.g. Site operations Supervisor and Maintenance Specialist, in the resolution of defects, changes in the operation of specific plant items or to provide information in response to a maintenance alert.

Key responsibilities

  • Working under a SSOW and after training issue/accept work permits when required.
  • Carry out scheduled mechanically-oriented maintenance tasks in accordance with the Asset Maintenance Management System
  • Provide support e.g. making valve isolations or locating and explaining the operation of assets, to facilitate work being performed by other members of the O&M team or for project teams
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping to ensure that all facilities, plant and equipment are maintained in an efficient working manner
  • Working in confined space areas after training.
  • Undergo any training / re-training that may be required to ensure that the requirements of Exolum procedures and statutory regulations are met.
  • This role is a mobile one, covering a group of sites across the Exolum network, so you must be prepared to travel as part of your working day. A company van will be issued to you for this purpose.
  • Be available for overtime when required for out of hours’ breakdowns and emergencies

About You

The successful candidate will possess a recognized mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualifications relevant to the role, along with industry-relevant safety training (CSCS or CCNSG). They must have a driving license and experience in a maintenance role within a petrochemical or process industry environment. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to understand site rules and procedures, plan workload effectively, and communicate efficiently. Creative problem-solving skills, anticipating and addressing customer needs, and good written and oral (including telephone) skills are essential. Additionally, the candidate must have access to a car and be able to travel to sites across the Exolum network, which may involve occasional overnight stays.

Being a mechanical engineer with I. Mech. E. (Eng. Tech Grade), along with CompEx Mechanical training (EX11), a CCNSG Safety Passport, and experience with mechanical isolations to HSG 253, is desirable. Additionally, SSOW awareness and experience, process safety awareness, gas monitoring, COMAH, confined space training, and first response firefighting and first aid, driving categories B + E are also desirable.
