About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and dependable Operator to support the safe, efficient and accurate receipt and dispatch of products within the Purton Terminal. You will play an important role in ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations, supporting the maintenance of standard operating procedures, and contributing to the overall performance and reliability of the terminal. This role requires strong coordination, attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimise all operations involved in product storage and handling.
  • Maintain accurate operational records where required.
  • Assist in the development and review of standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out any operations role for which suitable training has been provided.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the standards required by Terminal Management.
  • Liaise with relevant external agencies on matters relating to product storage and handling.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across operational areas.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure efficient departmental performance.
  • Follow all operational procedures that apply to terminal processes.
  • Be familiar with the requirements of the terminal’s emergency arrangements.
  • Ensure all work follows company safety and environmental expectations.
  • Understand the characteristics and risks of products handled within the terminal.
  • Ensure drivers and contractors follow site rules.
  • Report incidents and near misses in the correct manner.
  • Contribute to internal meetings relating to operations, safety, environment, and quality as required.

About You

You will have a good standard of education, ideally including 5 GCSEs (A–C or equivalent), along with at least one year of relevant work experience in an operational or industrial environment. You will be an excellent communicator who approaches tasks proactively, demonstrating strong accuracy, attention to detail and problem‑solving ability. You will be self‑motivated, able to adapt to change and capable of remaining calm and measured under pressure. You will also show good judgement and take pride in maintaining high operational standards. Experience within a fuel terminal or similar industrial setting is advantageous but not essential for success in this role.

About the Benefits

  • Salary: £34,262.58 - £36,262.58 per annum depending on experience
